.015 inch. Or, is it .005 inch?

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar!

Missed that joke.
.015 is one hundred and fifty thousandths of an inch.
.005 is five thousandths of an inch

It's not really a "joke" per-se... In either case it's not something that is easily measured when it comes to allowable tolerance for wheel bearing hubs. Basically, you're not going to feel this by jacking up the car and shaking anything... It has to be well beyond needing replacement before you could test it that way.

Oh well I guess I should stop watching youtube to get my education on things I've never repaired before and have no input from other live people.

It was a Freud joke! He insisted that cigars represented something sexual. Sometimes things are exactly what they are, no interpretation needed. It was a separate thought from the measurements.

Youtube can be good and it can be very misleading as well... I wasn't trying to be harsh at all.

The thing with hub bearings is allowable tolerance is tiny... The point of failure on the other hand is quite a large amount of play. That could probably be felt, as is seen in videos.

There are probably more cars on the road with bad hub bearings than with good ones, it doesn't take much at all to damage them.

Hmm. I used to be pretty good at math
.015 is fifteen thousandths of an inch (not one hundred fifty. That would be .150 )
.005 is five thousandths

I’m always confused with the terms and more so due to the metric system, so I would welcome a correction if I made a typo error.

it is .005 inch (0.132 mm). 5 thousandth of an inch, far below my sensory threshold, even when magnified by the radius of the wheel when doing the shake test.

If it sounds like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck just maybe it IS a duck, but it could be an alligator in drag.
