Noise when starting the car....

...almost like the noise you get when you first start the car after an oil change....maybe like a starter motor runoff? Darn..too hard to explain I guess...Only does it after the car has been siting awhile like overnight or after work etc......like a dry start before oil flows?

Like I said weird noise hard to describe..only lasts like a second or 2...if it happens with you , you would know it.

if its a rattle like klick(sounds like a screw gun clutch?), then we all get it. It sounds like a pump or compressor to me, could be wrong.

Do our oil filters have anti-drainback valves in them? If they do, maybe it's a bad oil filter? That would make it sound like you just changed the oil every time it had been sitting for awhile.

We have canister filters, no valve there.....might not be a bad idea to check filter though, make sure its still standing tall and proud....

yep

Mine just started doing this, I've owned my 2006, 2.4 for about two months and it's done this only a couple of times. I'm thinking maybe the oil is thicker during colder weather and it's all sitting in the pan at first start up. That may explain why it does not make the noise all the time, (for me anyway).
