Hmm. 2 posts ago you said the light was on. Now you say it flashes 4 times and goes off.
Well. Certain pending CEL's or trouble codes can make the compressor inoperative in AC mode.
I would suggest to check for any stored codes. If there are any, you can post them up here to aid us in finding an answer to your problem.
A second thought. Earlier you stated the air was cold in the defrost mode. Is that still the same ?

I assumed that the latter post was talking about the light on the inside air button not the AC light. The sticking blend door might have caused the flashing light.
Glad the problem was solved.
