Oil Filter Debris 2.2L/2.4L engines; metal shavings
I didn't notice any at my 1st change at 1100 miles but I really didn't look all that closely either. All the more reason to do that 1st change earlier I guess
I'll check again at 4100 miles when I do my 2nd change

*sigh*
The debris is coming from a passage that is between the pump and the oil filter. When the oil is pressurized in the engine for the first time the debris is caught by the filter and cannot move into the rest of the engine. It cannot backflow into the passage, either. Essentially, they're saying let the oil filter DO ITS JOB, and don't try to talk the customer into rebuilding his engine.
