Panic time...
Anyone wanting to join a class action?
You know, it`s amazing the kind of product they put out, that costs $20,000 and is hand crafted/built.

This is normal on any new car. The difference with the HHR is since you are replacing a filter element vs a spin on filter is it easier to see. Now if you have shavings in following oil changes you might raise an alarm.

News Flash, Einstein: I was posting the info as a service to the forum so other owners could be aware, but you have to come along and throw something from a completely unrelated post in my face.

What is your problem?

Frankly, I don't understand why some people are getting "anxious" over having metal debris in their filter.

Metal debris has been found in NEW oil filters for years...as stated by ws91420. You couldn't see it because of the spin-on filters. It's part of the machining/assembly process. The same goes for your transmission pan....found very small "machine dust" in Hydramatic trans pans for about 30 years......probably why they used to put small magnets on the inside of the pan.

Finding the particles, just tells you the filters are doing what their intended purpose is. I would worry if I found the filings in the oil draining from the car.

As we say in the aircraft maintenence industry,if it ain't big enough to have a serial number on it,it's normal fuzz from a new gearbox.

Might be that this is one of those things that need to be highlighted some how for those who are new. To those of us who have had our HHR for a year or so, this is old news. But to someone who has just joined and/or just got thier HHR it is new.
No reason for the old timers to dump on the new people.
I still do not know why Lone Ranger deleted two post including the starting thread.

Some members need to Back Off Again!

Yes HonestBlues you are so right!

If I had just joined this forum, I probably would`ve jumped in my new ride, drove to the dealer, and demanded an explaination as to how my engine was full of metal, he was aware of this, and I would be demanding a replacement motor right now, (I`d wait until it`s done ), or I`d be contacting the BBB, the CIA, and maybe the FBI.
L.R., I see you live around me, in your avatar, we must meet sometime (soon).
