Oil Leak?
Oil Leak?
Hello All,
I hope everyone had a great Christmas/ Holiday. I searched the forum before I bothered you all with this thread but came up with no luck. The past couple of weeks, I have been noticing a small oil leak. I went out of town so I couldn't handle it until I got back in town. My intuition tells me it is coming from my oil filter cap but I don't know much and it could be coming from somewhere else. I have attached some pictures to show you. Could anyone tell me if this is probably where it is coming from or if there is another area right around here i should check also?
Thank you for your time!!!

Doesn't appear to be the cap leaking. I would look around the valve cover area.
Fwiw. You really shouldn't use pliers on the oil filler cap. Get the correct socket for the job.
If someone else is changing your oil, you should give them a "talking to" about messing up the cap nut.

I am sorry if this is a simple question, Where exactly is the valve cover? How hard of a fix? I can find the part number from ac delco I am sure
The valve cover is underneath the air filter housing. Basically, it's the top cover of the engine.
Here's an old thread with some good pictures.

Could be the oil filter o-ring , it should be replaced every filter change.
It could be the valve cover gasket,
It could be the oil pressure switch leaking and the oil blown back
Suggest to spray the cold engine with Gunk engine cleaner shampoo and rinse.
Keep a eye on the aforementioned spots for oil after a few days!

My 2006 has the same symptoms
I think my 2006 2.2 has the same issue.
It started leaving little oil spots and idling kinda weird about a week ago.
Should I replace the oil pressure sender switch, or clean it up and screw it back in (assuming it's come lose)?
Thanks,
