Steam can make water disappear very quickly. A new cap is cheap insurance. If it was going into the trans it would be pouring out the breather valve by now, dontcha think.

Water yes, Dexcool, not as quick.. But I would get a new cap as Don suggested. & Agree that trans would be overflowing at that rate of coolant loss..

Yes, it was the cap. I replaced the cap a few weeks ago and kept on watching coolant level ever since. The level has remained the same ever since. I usually test monitor it when the engine is pretty warm. It seems that weather changes make the fluid in the reservoir fluctuate.

The level in the jug is supposed to fluctuate depending on the temp of the coolant. Doubters beware, I was right again.

Oil catch can doesn't seem to be doing much. The oil is still going into the tube. I tried to use the can with steel wool insert and without it. It doesn't seem to matter much.

Does position of the can matter much? The can is currently at the same level as the valve cover.

Do you really need that vent to go to that tube? What will happen if I just plug the tube going into the intake manifold and leave a little hole on top of the can for extra pressure to escape? The vent is still going to be there, but all that junk will not go into the intake manifold.

I removed the oil catch can and then removed the valve cover, then washed out the valve cover , after soaking it in the wash tub with hot water and Dawn for the afternoon . I didn’t have that problem return.

I guess, to answer my own question. I was just reading Cat Man HHR's post (https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...-can-ss-54374/) about oil catch can modification and I can see where the problem is. There has to be a tube that goes to the bottom of the can! Now, I wounder how I can modify this one.

That seems like an easier solution. I may give this one a try.
