Oil Life

I didn't really find the answer in a search, but here's what I want to know. According to the computerized oil life monitor, are you supposed to go get the oil changed when it reads 0% oil life left? No, I'm not going to wait that long, and I don't expect anyone else is, but according to the engineers that programmed the oil life monitoring system, is that what they really intended? Seems so... what doth you all state?

The dealership told me to schedule an oil change when the oil life got to 25%. I doubt I'll wait that long, but that was the guidance they gave me.

A message that says change oil soon will display on your DIC when the oil monitoring system wants you to change the oil.

The dealer told me that it will give a warning 600 miles before it reaches 0%, but I am not going to take that chance. Have gotten mine chaged when it reaches 25%

Got mine changed the first time at 3500. I switched to synthetic and plan on staying pretty close to what the car says.

At 3400 it still showed over 60% life!

It gonna be tough to get used to going over 5000 though.

I'm with yeshua63043 on this one.

The thing that just FLAT OUT FLOORS ME is that the people who are most concerned with Fuel Economy are the biggest consumers of Motor Oil Anyone care to exsplain the logic behind this??

The above statment is not directed at any particular HHR owner, but toward actual people I know.

I'm going to run mine to 0% like GM says, so I'll probably be changing my oil about every 8,000 miles or so. My engine should last at least 36,000 miles that way. But when it sarts burning oil at 75,000 miles. I'm sure GM will give me a new motor because I changed oil exactly when the DIC said too. Hows that?

What were they thinking when they created that acronym anyway.

^^^

I had mine done by the dealer at 1,000 miles and put in Mobil 1 Synthetic. They put on my paperwork and the little sticker on the window to bring it back in 3,000 miles for another oil change. Goes to show you there's two sides to the face of GM...the dealers face on one side and GM's on the other. Didn't there used to be a mask like that? CH should know that

BTW...your sig says 2007 HHR and profile says 2006. Just messin with ya.
