Just had the oil changed last week, and the info center says the level is at 99% so I assume that means the mechanic reset the system properly, yet now my oil light is coming on. It appears to be full when I check the dipstick, but that's about the end of my mechanical abilities and knowledge, haha, so I thought I'd ask you folks what you think. Didn't want to rush it back to the mechanic if it wasn't necessary to. Thanks in advance!
You mean the oil life shows 99% remaining.
the dip stick is showing correct level, the oil light would indicate low oil pressure.
are you sure they changed the oil filter?
If the oil light stays on and the dipstick shows full, DO NOT drive it. In fact, don't even start the engine up.
Have it towed to the shop.
If there is no oil pressure, it doesn't take long to cause major engine damage or complete engine failure.
I would look at the wires connecting to the oil pressure sensor. It is just below the oil filter. If they are damaged or loose you can drive to the mechanic that did the change.

Yes, it's at 99% full. Yes, he changed the filter.

It was going off after a few minutes yesterday, then it stayed on when I drove to work this morning, and then it didn't come on on the way home. I'm going to run it to the guy on Monday, because I'm definitely concerned about the engine.
Do you have the check engine light on when the engine is running ?
If so and someone has a code reader you might have fault code P0521 which would indicate a bad oil pressure sender.
or the wiring to it.
