Unfortunately for us guinea pigs who bought 2006 models, we only got 36,000 mile warranties.

 

but if you bought a used 2006 in 2007 you got the 100K warranty where is the f'ng logic in that? (At least that is what I understood) Maybe they corrected that cluster F and fired the morons who thought of that great idea

I havent done a damn thing to the car in 46K miles other than change the oil.....whether that is a good thing or a bad thing I don't know ....dealer did add some coolant when I had it in to replace the rearview mirror that sorta fell apart

...well i did change the air filter at 35k and the cabin filter as well...but dealer has not laid his fingers on car except for recall


Again...not sure if it is a testament to the Ecotec or I'm sitting on a time bomb just waiting to explode

PS Rotors are pretty crappy and gonna need replacing but I'll have a local mechanic do that

 

Only if it is a GM Certified used and it is still in effect.

 

If you bought a certified vehicle from GM, then you got the warranty. I know my mother bought a 06 Cobalt from a CHevy dealership that was one of their lease returns, and it did not come with the extra warranty, only the standard 3/36. Maybe some dealerships give it that "certified" logo, but not all. But the powertrain warranty is the lease of my worries anyway.

 

2005 and 2006 Cobalts have a 5 year 60,000 mile powertrain from GM.

Dealership decides on whether they certify a vehicle or not if it meets the time and mileage restrictions set by GM.

 

When she purchased, the paperwork stated (along with the salesman) it only came with the standard 3/36 bumper to bumper...... I was there and asked about the certified warranty, it had just came out and wanted to know if her's came with that. They said no. BUt we did not get the original window sticker that showed the complete warranty info. But if that is indeed the case, I will remember that and let her know. SHe purchased in Feb 07.

Now what would they give the Cobalt a 5/60 powertrain, and not the HHR.....

 

It gets even more mind boggling....the 2005 and 2006 Aveo also had this warranty.

This powertrain is the same (except the miles) as the 2007 and newer vehicles have. There is no need for transfer of the warranty or any other stipulations. Sounds like the used salespeople were idiots, which doesn't surprise me.

 

Well, well, learned something new today. I'm guessing this was an upgrade at some point? Cause I know my sticker states a 3/36 powertrain. But I see that the HHR also now has a 5/60 for the 06.

I guess my point (if I wear a hat nobody will notice) was that if you bought a brand new 06 HHR vs an 06 HHR (certified) you took it in the shorts regarding the powertrain warranty...to me that doesn't seem right or fair
