I can report that the cooling system is working much better. When I got in to make the commute home from work the outside temp was reading 110. That's Texas and concrete for you. 
The coolant temp never went over 201 over my 20-25 minute drive. I'm very happy with that. I know it can do a little better. While CJ was waiting with me on Moday for the tow truck his HHR was idling in the afternoon heat and the temp was a steady 192. But like everything on his car it's been messed with, I think he's used water wetter or something like that. I guess I know what I'm getting next time I'm at the parts store.

Overheating in cars makes your head overheat as well
Leaking coolants is one of the symptoms of having a bad heater core. That's what I've known with admin spam link edit, I think it's true to all. The best solution is to replace it. If it's still within the warranty, check on your dealer. If not, find a good one.
