P0011 code-Running by the gurus
Hello,
Just driving down the road about 45mph and the engine just quit. No lights or poor running. Will turn over and start but engine quits after 1-2 seconds. Pulled P0011 code ( P0011 Intake Camshaft Position (CMP) System Performance ). Inspected under hood and only thing I found odd was an accumulation of black carbon around the outside of the hose where it connects to the throttle body. Interior of airbox, maf sensor and hoses were reasonable on clean side. Air filter was ok but needs replacement. It is a 2009 w 2.4l and about 81,000 miles. From what I read I need to replace the intake camshaft solenoid. Just want to run it by the HHR gurus.
Thank you for your input, George

Ive read people have used unknown parts , but very little follow up about that.
I recommend the AC Delco parts they are up to date with superseded numbers.
RockAuto has a discount code if you decide to order from them.

For the replacement of the solenoids - we have this documented writeup - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...13-14-a-28779/
and the part numbers are as follows:
Here is a list from the Oldest to Newest GM Part numbers for the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valves:
------------------------------
Intake 12628347 = 12646783 = 12655420
Exhaust 12628348 = 12646784 = 12655421 = 12679100

Thank you for your advice/review. Interestingly Rock Auto didn't have the AC Delco listed. Decided to go with the Gates brand for the combination of Brand name, warranty and price. I wanted to stay out of the weeds with unknown brands/reliability. We will see and report back. Picked up an air filter too. Is it just me or have the filter prices gone wacky at the local parts stores. Just forces more and more sales online.
Thanks again,
George
Thanks again,

A new twist to "brand loyalty"! Trust it because it is famous for making rubber V-belts and hoses. I would trust a GoodYear branded VVT valve more.
My belief is that most of them come from one of the 4 factories that offer the part; the "brand name" is printed on a box. Maybe there is a difference in the QC department (of the printer).
