Thanks, everyone, so far. I'm writing this from the transmission shop. They're working on it now. Sadly I don't have a garage of my own or a dry flat place (not with the snow I've gotten). I can slide under the car to really look at the wiring, but I did pass along to the guys looking it over that the codes could indicate loose wiring or connections. I'll update once the dust settles.

Well, now I feel exceptionally smart. :) I'll remember that for the future.

As an aside, I really do hope it's as simple as the wiring or the solenoid. I've had this car for two years now and it's been a good ride. Gets me where I need to go, is a good car to drive, and is fuel efficient which makes my commute easier on the whole. :)

Let us know their findings! Good luck, I believe it to be a wire harness issue, however the member in the thread did not confirm how the problem was remedied.

According to the shop they have ruled out wiring issues. A replacement solenoid is en route and will arrive around 3:30 today. We'll know either later today or Monday if that resolves this.

Right, so... they want at least $900 to replace the solenoid. This seems a bit outrageous to me but they tell me it's a 7.9 hour job and they'd have to do all manner of things. Smells a bit off to me considering the part itself is a $50. Can anyone speak to how long it would take to replace a solenoid?

Transmission Solenoid: Symptoms & Replacement Cost

Yeah, but $900 is more than I can afford today. Maybe in a week, but not today. Sounds like I may have to drive it as is for the time being. I'm just hoping that I won't do more damage to it over the next week or however long it takes to put together the funds to fix this thing.

There's also the question of whether or not replacing the solenoid will fix the problem. Spending $900 to potentially not have it resolve this issue doesn't sit well with me either. That's why I'd feel a lot better knowing that this isn't likely to wind up with me needing to buy a replacement transmission.

While you are amassing the funds to get it fixed, try a battery lobotomy, disconnect the negative cable at the battery for 30 minutes.
Check the ground cable connections at the transmission housing, down to the left of the oil filter housing, and over behind the headlight on the rad cradle

The lobotomy was unsuccessful. I'm going to take another look at the cables tomorrow but nothing I saw stood out and I checked any connections I could see.

Since I probably have to be back to work tomorrow, what's everyone's opinion of drive-ability? Should I be driving it with this current issue? I'm a bit nervous to, but it's also my only car and I need to be at work this week.
