Just picked up an '06 1lt. The indicator on the dash for the passenger airbag does not come on when starting up. Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting?

 

It shouldn't come on unless someone is sitting in the passenger seat..... at least my '07 is that way.

 

I put my 9 year-old in the seat and still nothing...... I don't want to drive with her there if it is going to go off.

 

GM doesn't give us the specific weight of a person for the light to come on but I think, based on my children, it is around 76 lbs.

 

Thanks ChevyMngr..... She's well under that! Does that mean that the bag is or is not active tho'?

 

If the light won't come on, that person should not be sitting there. The airbag is NOT active. Just to be sure you need to sit in it and verify it works.

So far, I LOVE my new to me car! DIC says I should get about 800k on a tank at my normal speed.

 

I went and sat in the passenger seat, turned the key to run, the airbag light in the instrument cluster came on but nothing from the passenger side indicator. I weigh 200lbs so it could not have missed me sitting there.

 

sounds like you have an airbag issue. i had a wiring problem with my airbags. might want to get it checked out. does the dic say service airbag?
