Please help. A conspiracy theory that the Chevy HHR is out to get me . Help. 911

2010 Chevrolet HHR LS 2.2L MFI FFV DOHC 4cyl

We’re gonna keep this short and sweet because that is two things that I am not.

This car has been literal hell on earth. It’s existence depletes mine so much. I’m at a point in my life where four months later I’m still homeless I’m still struggling and I’m still going through it here nor there that has nothing to do with this goddamn car.

What I’m really trying to say is I fixed one thing and two more things break. We replaced the whole front end suspension struts in all that I know I need a catalytic converter replaced. I know I got a EAP leak. I know ESC system is out so I have no skin control that light lights up on my dashboard.

And I had to have my CV axle both driver in passenger side in the front replaced. The front driver side CV axle actually broke off now while I’m driving. I noticed there is a much rougher idle. The RPMs are higher than usual and when I let off of the gas pedal, there is this whirling winding growling noise that whines down fast. I noticed my gas mileage is low.

Let me keep it blunt. I’m trying to get the most out of this car without putting the least amount of money into it.

I know that this is detrimental to the cars longevity, whereas a EV leak or catalytic converter don’t really mean crap. I’m just polluting the Earth but so is Sherwin-Williams. Call me the bad girl, but the way that the economy is right now that is out of sight and out of mind.

What do I do about this rough idling and the whining noise I live in Detroit so anything is possible. I literally need a miracle and the miracle is one of you beautiful people one of you beautiful souls that understands what it’s like to love this car but I also hate this car. I know some of you guys know this car like the back of your hand and I really need some help here so please if anybody has any advice for the rough idle and for the whining noise please let me know.

When I’m not doing good at work, I sleep in my car and I don’t get a hotel room for the night so I can save a little bit of money so I can last a little bit longer. this car is slowly ripping away at my sanity with the amount of money I have sunken into it to keep it running. I might as well have just bought a new car, but I have faith in her and I don’t know if I’m delusional or being complicit in a flfairytale that is actually a nightmare.

I appreciate anybody’s advice anybody’s encouragement anybody’s anything at this point there’s a lot better than being lost in my own head right now.

Thank you in advance, I’m helping me get my house up and running in better condition to protect her longevity.

If you know you need a new catalytic converter (how do you know) that is probably most of the problem.
The car is 15 years old, probably a lot of neglected/deferred maintenance.

A new catalytic converter isn’t that expensive, I replaced mine last year under $200.00 CDN
exactly what code does your HHR display?

Catalytic converters don't just up and fail, usually there is something else that causes the failure. Like ignoring the CheckEngineLight for a long time.

P0751 Shift Solenoid A Performance / Stuck Off

P0420 usually a bad catalytic converter

P0449 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

P0700 lights the CEL, to alert you to the P0751 issue

P0751 duplicate

The transmission problem could be causing the noise. The cat and/or the evap could be causing the performance issues.

Well, misfires will cause the failure. Along with some other things.
Did the CEL flash? That means "STOP AND REPAIR NOW OR THE CAT WILL DIE".
