I BLAST my radio, I really don't even know how I have not blown a speaker yet, (knocking on wood). I know somone said software issues, but what for only the XM option????? Sounds distrubing, hope it gets fixed soon!
I have a 2LT and the Pioneer 7speaker/ single CD w/XM option (functioning) and I have the "Pop" problem... every so often. (very intermittent)

Nothing quite as loud as a "gunshot"... but annoying enough.

I have also heard/read that it is a GM software (update) problem. and dealerships will be addressing the issue soon.

No XM, no OnStar and have gotten the pop. Hmmm, sounds like something you get on a night out on town

Mine does this 95% of the time, not just occasionally. Doesnt matter if its on XM, FM, AM or CD.

Sucks.

I haven't made any counts, but would estimate maybe 1 out of 10 or 20 starts will result in the POP.

BTW... 2LT w/Pioneer / 260 - sub system, XM, but no OnStar or 6 CD.

I agree, it does not matter what options are installed. I have the premium sound system, NO XM, but with Onstar.

All the same, whether or not the system is powered on or not. Pop goes the system, when you turn the ignition on.....

All agreed... sounds like it's time to call your friendly local Chevy dealership! (please fix my HHR Mr. Goodwrench)

From the Center of disease Control:

If an individual is found to have the dreaded "Pop" please quarantine ASAP and call your local authorities. Cases have sprung up nationwide, specifically those who own "HHR's". Stay safe ladies and gentlemen...

I've yet to hear this on mine (Single Disc w/ 7 Speaker & XM) but I rarely start it manually... love my remote start. Still doesn't do it when I put the key in and activate the radio.

I have the non-premium sound system (cheap factory stereo ) and have had no problems with it. The only popping to date is my eardrums when I make a rapid descent in my HHR heading for the runway......wait...that may be a dream
