power outlets..??

are both power outlets on the same fuse?? I only see one fuse --for the accessory ports-- under hood fuse #30... rear port works fine--but the front port on the dash does not work... anyone have any ideas or if it is connected to a different fuse for the front port ??? thanks

Some have had a problem with the connector on the back coming off. See if you can get back there to check it.

well according to the 2008 owners manual both sockets are accessory ports... and can be used to install a lighter to the front on... if you get the smokers package... and it really shouldnt matter--- the center is the hot (+12vdc) and the interior of the can part is the common ground connection... this is pretty much a standard thru out the automotive industry... Most small devices that are run on that port will pull way less amps than a lighter would actually pull..

salty---- they maybe changed the "can depth" now on the 2008 -- my cell charger fits fine in it... just it wont work ... havent dove into why yet... hoping something simple.... if anyone knows of the schematic for that circuit --that would be very helpful... electrical engineer by trade--so pretty handy with a fluke meter :-)

I dont know about the 08s
In my 07 the front wouldnt work and the back did. dealer replaced a fuse and the front works now. I can use the charger or lighter in either hole. An after market lighter would blow the fuse everytime I tried to use it. I got one from dealer and haven't had a problem since.

what I see in the manual is that there are 2 fuses. #29 fuse is the front outlet (cigar. lighter) and #30 in the rear. This is from the 08 HHR. Located in the fuse box under the hood.
