Power Steering loss.

Lately my '08 has had issues with lack of steering assist at idle or low speeds. After searching and reading some threads, I bought a replacement EPS motor from the dealer and installed it yesterday. I have not had any DIC messages or codes regarding Power Steering.
The motor install seemed straight forward. Remove panels, clip tie wrap, unbolt two motor bolts and re install. There were no instructions with the motor. I applied the lube to the interior of the motor shaft and I had improperly installed the tie wrap. I cut off the tie wrap as it did not seem to be an issue with the wiring. After installation I noticed a slight clunking noise when moving the steering wheel quickly left and right. To me it sounded like the rack and pinion. After test driving, it seemed better with a slight hesitation when turning right when stopped.
Today it is worse. When stopped, the steering wheel stops when turned right or left 30 to 45 degrees from center.
Is there something I missed or is this motor bad. The original was not like this.
Any help would be appreciated.

You need to read this - http://consumermediallc.files.wordpr...4v153-7510.pdf - skip right to the end of the document.

It came from a posting in this thread - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gm-r...tension-50057/

You need to take it to your dealer for coverage.

When I bought the part at the dealer they ran a VIN check to see if there were any recalls for my vehicle. I was told there were none at this time. Today I will swap out the motor with the original when I get to work. Then I will check operation and if necessary bring part and vehicle back to dealer.
Thanks for the help. I printed out the letter to bring with me.

Yeah, guys... They told me my 2008 wouldn't be recalled for this. I asked when I went in for the Ignition recall...

It is not a RECALL!!!! It's a WARRANTY EXTENSION - BIG difference. :)

It therefore will not show up on a list of recalls for the vehicle.

And in order to have it fixed under warranty, what are the criteria? I am feeling lazy after helping a few other members out.

It's no different than any other warranty claim - it must be a problem the Dealer can see, or accept from what you can explain to them.

That doesn't sound like a steering motor issue to me.
