A quick question

I don't want this to seem like I bought a bad car its just minor IMO but a family member is concerned. When I bought my HHR I told them that I wanted the oil changed because the DIC said change oil soon. Well they did and cleared the DIC. Today after two days of really having the car the oil life monitor says that the oil life is 98% me and my cousin both kind believe that is kinda quick that it has gone done.

I do have a small oil leak that I didn't notice at all but thats covered in my warranty and its nothing to big of a deal. I'm more worried about the oil life.

Any ideas like is that normal.

How long did you expect it to remain at 100%?
Seems normal to begin decreasing. ...a few days after an oil change, yep, the number starts go down.
Over 68K on my 2006, no leaking at all.
Not to worry, mine does the same thing.

Its just a small leak. I'm more worried about what the DIC said. Seems like it should still be a 100% after been driving for only 1 day. Got the Car Wednessday and drove around to get insurance, back to the dealer, and then home. Yesterday it was from home to work and then back home. Today it was just a few trips into town. I just thought that it was a little too soon.

It's normal. However I still get the oil changed every 3K or so.

How many miles did it have on it when you bought it?

120k and please I'm not wanting anyone to nark on me for buying a car with that amount of miles. It isn't bad compared to some of the other cars I tried out. Plus it is an 06 and I can see that being possible.

Yeah when I get mine changed it doesnt stay at 100 very long. Depending on how much it was driven by the service guys, it may be down by the time I get it home.
I would get the oil leak fixed right away though.

Shouldn't worry about the 100% going to 98% so soon. Just look at it logically-it was 100 at the exact time the oil was changed-the second you drive it it will depreciate. Just like the value of any new car-you paid full for it before you started it up-the second you leave the lot you lost a couple thousand!!

(I also think the monitor works by engine revolutions and other electronic inputs-not mileage)

Well found the source to the problem. I looked under the car today and the darn oil pan had a big as dent in it. I was like WTH man. Called the dealer up and since I need the car I have to wait till monday to take her in. Its like errrr. I will just have to keep an eye on the oil then. Its not like a monsertous leak but its leaking.
