Quick thought
I thought it was interesting about a couple things involving my crash...
1. Based on the estimate given to me by my insurance company, I could get new (not aftermarket, not junkyard) parts (fender, headlight, fender liner, bumper cover) for less than my insurance company quoted me for new, aftermarket parts. Problem with this is I won't go into a body shop and ask them to install my parts. That's too much like walking into a restaurant, handing the chef a couple eggs and bacon and asking him to cook them for me.
2. my cheap-a$$ed insurance company would not cover the estimate (less deductible) from my preferred body shop because they won't use aftermarket parts (at all). I was told if they did the work, the insurance co would only cough up enough to cover aftermarkets, I had to pay the difference.
3. After arguing (to no avail) for two weeks, I took it to the dealers body shop, they gave me a quote for an aftermarket fender, factory everything else, that quote was $300 more than my bodyshop, and the insurance company is covering it (less deductible).
go figure.
