ok so my coolant fan failed and blew apart. this also took out the radiator.
and before I am blasted I spent 2 hours searching for anything on how to replace the coolant fan assembly and the radiator with no luck... go figure right?

Soo... does anyone have a how-to for the coolant fan and the radiator?
is there anything i need to look out for? tips or tricks? coolant replacement?

any help would be great.....

OK Well....

2nd day of internet search on how to replace my radiator. thanks for the link to replace the cooling fan. I had already found that video. Guess I will have to get a Chilton's book for removing the radiator..... and the LAST thing I want to do is mess up the A/C.....

found all kinds of info on replacing the COOLING fan... but ZILTCH ZERO NADDA on replacing the RADIATOR..... interesting

Not really anything special or secret that you need to know. Just a matter of draining the coolant, disconnecting the hoses and lines, and unbolting any brackets and lift it out.
No. I've never done one on a HHR, so I don't have any tips. My only suggestion would be to maybe replace the radiator hoses as a preventative maintanence thing. Since you're already disconnecting one end of the hoses, why not just replace with new ones.
It shouldn't be that difficult of a job.

(only reason I answered this thread was it seemed nobody else had any 1st hand knowledge or tips to give you.
BUT, I did see donbrew sent you a PM, so maybe that helped)

If he read his PM, he would not need to buy a Chilton.

Bob, good to see you on the site! A PM is a private message.

i just drain the coolant, remove the upper and lower rad hoses ( access them from the side behind the plastic deflectors)
the carefully remove the retainer clips from the transmission cooler kits and gently wiggle them out of the fittings.
I then remove the two rad retaining brackets and gently lift the rad out .

The clips and transmission lines, I use a dental pic tool I got at HF, slide back the plastic cover, #6 then remove the clip #7 in the photo

Here’s a photo of the side plastic deflectors

There’s a bracket on the passenger side. And oh yeah you need to remove the hood latch assembly
