Rattling hatch door?

Seems like the plastic that lines the liftback hatch is squeaking rattling etc....any ideas or has this happened on your HHR?

At least thats where I think the noise is coming from

I had a rattling that I thought was going from my lift gate. I found out that it was a plastic support for the rear bumper cover. I tapped my hand against it until I found the part that was making the noise. took it to the dealer and showed them what I found. now the rattle is gone.

Hey it was there when I posted before. I think, well I'll try again. Age and the mind seem to play tricks at times https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ueak#post35197

I did a search on gate squeaks and found it.

I'll take a look at all those areas...thanks guys

I still think it is the plastic that covers the back liftgate though...but thats just a guess

Have found that when you grab both struts and shake them a bit they do move a bit and that could be the the culprit

Wonder what hinges she was talking about that need the lube?

Only 2 on the lift gate, at the top. Didn't you have a rattle in your gate some time ago, remember you posting about it. Could be something loose with the wiper motor mounting inside the lift gate? Remove the rear panel on the gate read this thread https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/appearance-modifications-discussions-6/how-remove-liftgate-interior-18281/

Not sure if she might have been talking about the struts (I've seen some refer to them as hinges) or the 2 hinge on the inside middle

The plastic seems pretty loose on the inside of the panel...not sure how to secure it better..maybe some foam between the panel plastic and the door itself

I posted about noisy struts before in the cold.....that should be starting again real soon
