Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
Dropped my much loved 2007 HHR off at the mechanic today for what I thought was a brake issue or maybe even a ball joint gone bad, only to have him call and tell me, "I can't fix this." Apparently my rear axle bushings are completely shot. He said the control arms are welded on so it isn't something simple. He's trying to find someone here who can replace the axle but I have a sneaking suspicion the repair will be far more expensive than the car is worth at this point, which makes me unspeakably sad. I love my HHR. Anyone else have this issue, and if you did repair it, what am I looking at pricewise? Is it worth it?
Flat rate labor is 1.9 hours for both.
Part number 15844181 they are pretty expensive MSRP is $125 each, but shopping will reduce that to around $75.
Any decent shop would have a set of bushing presses, or loaner tools at AZ or O'reilly etc.
Really only 2 bolts in a shop with a lift.
I agree with finding a new mechanic.
I did this job myself when I put an SS rear axle beam in Toughie.
If you can't find it in New York, I have the tool used to replace the bushings.
You can use it for the price of shipping.
Just return it when you are finished.
i have axles free just pay the shipping ???? and if u die grind the brake line bracket so u can slide the metal line out u don't have to bleed the brakes takes may 30 min to change it out and drive away , gl
