Rear end clunk / banging

So I replaced all four shocks on 08 panel. Helped with brake shake by the way.
So everything fine for two weeks. Then backing into a parking spot and heard a twang sound which I thought maybe I hit something backing up. Nope nothing there.
Few days later a banging/clunking sound appears, seems to be coming from drivers side rear. Thought maybe one of my new KYB's failed.
Jacked it up to find both rear springs were broken. Week later, springs arrived from rock auto. Checked everything as I replaced them, everything under the car seemed fine.
Checked battery mount and spare tire, all tight.
Read a few posts here and no one in any of the posts I read, came back with a solution to their noise. I did read that the new shocks may need a spacer washer so I will look into that.
So, does anyone have any definitive answers as to what they found causing a loud solid clunking sound at or around the rear end?

Deteriorated rear axle bushings shock fasteners not torqued correctly, lug nuts not torqued correctly broken springs, you might have missed a piece of the broken off spring.

Replaced the axle bushings months prior, no broken pieces of springs left on car, all removed. Lugs torqued correctly.

Bumper cover, hatch loose, gas tank loose, exhaust loose. Nothing else back there from the factory.

SOLUTION, FIXED

Well, I appreciate all the guesses and suggestions, but you were all off.

Couple months past, we replaced my rear axle bushings and put everything back together according to spec. Two weeks ago my hard loud knock showed up. This was not even a high speed knock or a sharp bump knock, it was a slow speed, like 5 mph hard steel on steel knock.

We put it on the hoist and took a rubber mallet to everything looking for something loose. Took the new KYB shock off and compared it to the old one, other than design differences, everything lined up.

Even put the old shock back in to see if the the old one made a difference, Nada.

Jumped in the back of the panel and went for a drive. With my ear to the floor it sounded like it was coming from slightly forward of the rear left wheel. I opened the rear door and listened from the outside and the noise was definitely front of the rear wheel.

We decided to check the rear axle bushing bracket bolts (3) and they took close to quarter turn for full tightness.

Folks, that was the problem. Even though we torqued to specs when we did the bushings, they backed off ever so slightly that you could not find any visual evidence.

The broken springs I replaced most likely would not have made any noticeable noise, simply because I think they were broken when I replaced the shocks and the noise did not show up for weeks. Also I don't think a broken shock would have made the noise mine was making at such slow speeds.

We did recheck the battery and spare tire as well, the battery has a slight bit of movement but not enough to make the noise. Tightened it up as well.

So, this is a great site for help with issues, but finding solutions to problems is sometimes difficult because some folks don't follow through once they have corrected the issue.

Thanks to all who made suggestions and for keeping this forum going.

So it was the rear swing axle mounting plate bolts on the driver’s side. Strange all 3 bolts backed out almost 1/2 a turn, but the other side didn’t.
then it is plausible those 3 bolts didn’t get tightened and torqued . If they did, then I suggest you retorque the passenger side bolts also.
