Rear wheels

hhr ss 08 rear wheels make a howing noise wind driver at all speed. do need to replace rear axle hub.

before you change out the hubs check your tires , are they directional , and if they are, are they installed for the correct side, ? check your brake pads also the rotors

And, yes the rear hubs wear out also. If you can feel any play when you push in/out while it's jacked up, they are bad. The tolerance is like .02 inch I think.

I just changed out my rear hubs, I found that a 15mm deep socket 3/8 ths drive wobble extention, ( I have a 6 inch wobble so had to use a 12 inch extention to get thru the rear springs ) and my long handle 3/8 spark plug ratchet worked great to get the 4 nuts off!!
I determined the hubs had a slight grind noise when I turned the outer flange, and the outer flange was a little more then .003 loose!
