They should be interchangeable, probably needs reflash. Fob matching requires a computer that the dealer or a locksmith should have
Why did they say it was bad? If it was because the TPMS was displaying dashes and you could not reset the tire positions, the dealer mechanic did not do his job. the first diagnostic step is "check for TSBs". There is a TSB for 2008 models needing updated firmware for the RCDLR.
