Right front CV joint noise on deceleration ??

2007 HHR 2LT, 25k miles, --Dealer replaced warped rotors & pads last spring/early summer under warranty. I noticed the last 6weeks or so, at lower speeds (<30) on down when you lift off the gas, either not on the brake yet (coasting) or very light pressure, there is a road speed noise that you can faintly hear from the right front, it seems to sound like a muffled stone in the hub cap type noise. Anyone have this??

Thanks,
-Ski

Probably a wheel bearing. This unfortunately is common. Should be a quick no cost warranty fix.

X2. Wheel bearing. Mine did exactly that before I got it replaced.

My fiance had the same similar problem but it seemed to be making that noise all the time. Took it three times to the dealership under warranty. They replaced the wheel bearings and the front bushings but the noise kept coming back and getting worse.

Two weeks ago, took it to a small town family owner auto repair shop since her HHR is out of warranty. Mechanic said it was a defective axel and they replaced the front axel with a used axel from an HHR ($100 for axel and labor) and the noise FINALLY has gone away.

I left it at the dealer when I picked up my Silverado (Instrument cluster warranty). Picked it up the following day, the axle nut was loose. It had never been touched so it apparently was never torqued properly at birth in Meico! I will ck the torque on it in a month or so.

Thanks for the replies.
