O,k. so the wife goes to the grocery store in our 09 hhr. Car starts fine at home, 2 minute drive to store, puts car in park and it starts to idle extremely rough. she shuts it off and trys to restart but just cranks. cranks over a dozen times and still nothing. Finally she hold peddle to the floor and it starts with very rough idle and smells as though it has a very rich condition. She then turns it off again and restarts no problem except for the pesty engine light on. Going back to dealler ship for waranty tomorrow but wondering if anyone else have this happen and what is it. Never had to push throttle to start fuel injection before???

 

dealership replaced cam sensor and now is good. just to add that car wouldn't start with remote starter when this problem was going on. Everything cool now.

 

when you have a CEL the remote start feature is disabled.

 

I saw your comment on my post, I had a similar problem with my HHR a few days ago. I had no problem restarting my car though, but the "check engine light" stayed on until the dealership reset it. My remote start also wouldn't work, looks like the remote start is disabled when the "check engine light" is on. Is yours a 2009 also? Hope they fixed our problems correctly, kinda a bad start for my new ride :) But I still love the car though!
