Seat belt warning chime...

I have searched this site on how to disable the chime.

I already know if I wear the belt, it will come off...however there are medical reasons I cannot wear a belt...

Where is the sensor for the belt? Is it in the retractor or the buckle? And can it be unplugged or jumped?

Currently I have the belt behind the seat.

Other cars I have been in have a way to get rid of the chime, but I can't figure this one out.

Thanks!

This is one of those "fraught with liability" questions, so much so that my advice is to scoot by your dealer tomorrow and let them know the situation so that they can properly disconnect the "operator presence" sensor under the seat.

If done right, you'll have no chime, but you'll still have the illuminated reminder icon on the dash so that if another person drives your HHR you'll have limited liability if they have an accident while un-belted.

I don't think the Dealer will disconnect anything that will disable the seatbelt or the chimes. At least, that was what I was advised by the local dealers. I guess it is a matter of liability for them also.

However, if you have a medical necessity AND HAVE A LETTER FROM A DOCTOR STATING SO, I would think they could and will accommodate.

Good catch Snoopy, a letter from your doctor is a must 1900colt, or the dealer will probably say no.

The other alternative is to keep doing what you're doing.

Took the note to a dealer...

Had a nasty surgery years back...lucky to be alive, yet alone wallk.

I used to build seats for GM and the switch/airbag plug was in the buckel on some.

Might try another dealer...
