Exclamation Seat frame cracks bulletin

Hello. I've been getting a cracking/creeking sound from my seat and thought it was the adjustment gears or a spring. Well, the dealership just checked & the driver's seat FRAME is cracked. The service guy couldn't reproduce the sound so the manager who is a little bigger like me sat in the seat & they discovered the sound & source.

They told me the bushings, springs, frame are all on backorder due to it being a problem with others around the country

They tell me it's safe to drive until the parts come in.
If you're skinny try having a heavier person drive your HHR & listen for a distinct creaking/cracking noise just to make sure you don't have a hidden problem

You titled this thread " Seat frames Crack Bulletin" - Is there an actual bulletin put out by GM on this? Is this an SS seat only issue, power seat issue or all driver seats are effected?

I'm no lightweight either, but I hear no noise coming from the seat.

There are no bulletins for this issue and I have never heard of this issue or of these parts being replaced before, which is probably why there is no stock available.

ooookay. I said "bulletin" because I thought it was important. And by the way I'm not HUGE but the service guy was a tiny man. And I was told by the service guy that they discovered this is a "known" issue and the parts were on backorder because of demand.

I also don't have an SS.

Guess I should have just titled it "FYI check your seat it might be broken"

Sorry for the lack of technical info. I'll try better next time folks.

Don't sweat the "trying better" stuff. It's a forum, no harm no foul.
