Service Traction light???
Service Traction light???
I have a 2007 HHR 2.4 LT, the light came on yesterday saying Traction OFF followed by Service Traction, my car feels otherwise fine.....what does this mean, what can be the cause of it????
There could be more than one cause, so the first thing to do is head to an auto parts store like Advance/Autozone/etc. Have them pull the codes and then post them up here(They do it for free), without the codes we'd be guessing at best. But that being said, here's a link to a thread on the most common cause of your complaint.

Although the traction control system can be affected by emission system related codes, unless you also have a check engine light, Autozone won't be able to read anything about your traction system. Those are OEM codes that only a dealer or a shop with a nice expensive reader can get. Emission codes, though often generic, are federally mandated to be common across manufacturers, which is why a cheap code reader can pull them.
In other words you may have to bite the $60-$100 diagnostic charge to find out what the issue is.

As I was taking it in to Aamco (Carmax had no techinicans available today so they referred me there) the damn check engine light also turned on......I am waiting to hear back from them on what the heck caused the Traction light and check engine light to turn on.....I hope its nothing major.
Thank you all for your input.

Ok, so I got a call back stating that the intake cam code P0010 is faulty and needs to be replaced, once that is done it may resolve the traction control issue. Will find out more on MOnday......Happy Friday the 13th? ugh......
It was as I figured, that's why I linked you to the thread on that problem, but until it threw the code...it was just an educated guess.
Once fixed you should be good to go with no further issues, but honestly, they should also do the exhaust side too.

If you are looking for more info on what is involved in replacing the camshaft positioning actuator solenoid that is causing your issues (easy job):

Part numbers and related code details are on the next to last page of the thread:
"P0010/11 refers to the INTAKE solenoid
P0013/14 refers to the EXHAUST solenoid
The GM part numbers are as follows for the camshaft position actuator solenoids:
------------ Original-----Updated a month or two ago
Exhaust 12628348 = 12646784
Intake 12628347 = 12646783
Prices are ~$50 ea. or less it seems (down in USA - ~double that in Canada!!) "
