#1 - with the key in the off position are the brake lights supposed to come on when you push the pedal? A little background on this. I didn’t notice this until after the stalk on the drivers side snapped off and ripped the wires. I still have normal operation of all lights at night and the brake lights do work when the key is in the on position.
#2 - I recently found that all HHR’s have alarms. Does this take a key fob to activate? I did read the owners manual and it is as clear as mud to me. If so is the key fob a dealer only item? Does it have to be programmed to the car?
#3 - I have several issues with my doors ie broken door handles, blown speakers, and dents. I have the chance to score a very nice set of ‘08 doors in the same color as my car for slightly over $200 for all 4. I know that the wiring harness separates at the pillars. What I need to know is are the ‘08 doors plug and play? I don’t want to get into the hassle of having to mess with wiring if I don’t have to. I do know (no brainer) that other ‘07s would be but just wondering if ‘06s would be too in case I found a decent set of them?
As usual any and all suggestions and help are highly and greatly appreciated.
God Bless You All, stay safe and stay healthy.

Key fob is programmed to the vin of HHR thru the BCM .
Alarm is set by pressing the lock button on the key fob twice.
Alarm is deactivated by pressing the unlock button on the key fob once .
06, 07, 08 doors are the same for LS/LT HHRS, however the 08 SS and 09, 10, and 11 LS/LT are different in that the window switches are in the driver’s side door.
Speakers are a common problem in HHR’s with standard radio.

You can get a fob with a programmer from ebay, Amazon, your local auto parts store. Dorman is one supplier. I would buy a "Genuine GM" fob to go along with it, since many of the clone fobs don't work right. The programming module works for any brand fob, it has a maximum limit of how many uses.
I would not trust used speakers.
