Smashed Windshield

Hey all, First off I want to say I love this site and there is a lot of helpful pieces of information here and I look forward to being an active member of this community.

I got my HHR about 3 days ago and I was driving down the highway here in Florida, and heard a loud " Snap" noise. Turns out that a rock hit my windshield at about 60mph........ It caused a crack about 10 inches long on my windshield...... I hear it's free to egt replaced in Florida....we'll see.

3 days? That sucks.

All glass is free in SC if you have full coverage. This is nice to have.

I am so sorry! The last time I had a windshield replaced, it was free, but then the Insurance went up. Hope yours does not!

My advice is to make sure you get a PPG replacement rather than the OEM.

Spot on CH! I don't know where that OEM glass comes from but it very fragile. Shop around before you have the windshield replaced. Your insurance co. may squeal a bit, but the PPG windshield will take a beating that the OEM windshield won't. Good luck.

Ask about getting the tint across the top too. PPG makes it both ways.

Found out the hard way! I had to replace mine and asked for the tint stripe, the glass they brought didn't have the tint stripe, but was PPG also.

I like having the tint stripe, very little cost difference.

Size: 5.6 KB to the site!!! My windshield on my HHR got cracked from a rock within the first week of ownership too. Dealer replaced it because they were driving it at the time it happened.
