Sounds like old VW Bug

The car seems to be running well. But I probably have something wrong with my exhaust. It sounds like a VW Bug. Do you think that may be a hole in the exhaust?

Yes a hole in the flex pipe , there are replacement pieces

Weld or clamp on flex pipe

Or this mandrel bent down pipe will wake up a 2.2 or a 2.4

Ronnie- If the leak area is not obvious, stuff a rag in the tailpipe, while engine is running, & walk forward towards engine listening. The leak will be more noticeable.
Then of course remove rag as soon as you find your results.

So while I was napping before work, my got under my car to find out what was causing the exhaust noise. He said he was checking all my wiring, sensors, etc as well. He was tightening up bolts here and there. He got to the flange gasket and he said the gasket exploded and hit him in the eye when he tightened it. His eye was swollen pretty good. Now don't ask why he wasn't wearing safety glasses...it's like asking me why I wasn't wearing gloves. He is way more stubborn than me.

Anyway...can a new flange gasket be easily replaced? He mentioned something about a part was welded and wasn't confident in tackling the repair. But later said he would try to fix it if I wanted him to try.

Pretty sure he is referring to the aforementioned flex pipe. Welding is probably needed.

Yes, which flange the 3 holed one at the exhaust manifold or the 2 holed one at after the catalytic converter, before the resonator

I'm pretty sure it's the three bolts gasket. I have texted him to confirm...but it could take all day to get a reply.

My was able to replace the exhaust flange gasket Saturday. But it was still pretty loud. Sunday I bought some Muffler Weld for like $5 and under the HHR he went. He found the issue. Under or by the heat shield...the exhaust pipe had a hole. So he decided to tackle the problem before I had to make the two hour trip to work. Well needless to say I didn't make it into work...Sunday is only a 4 shift and I won't drive 2 hours to work 2 hours...that's just dumb. He got finished patching/repairing with Exhaust Weld and JB Weld about the time I needed to be at work. So I stayed another day at the lake. Sometimes I think he does this on purpose to keep there. I don't mind one bit.
