Smile Squeaky noise on a 2009 HHR

Is it normal to have a squeaky noise every time I hit a bump (only on the rear), I just purchased my 2009 HHR Panel, I was just wondering if there was a recall for this small noise.

I thaught it was the spare wheel, added a better insulation between the spare and the bottom of the trunk (better but not perfect).

I'm thinking the noise might come from the rear shocks, any advice out there.

Otherwise, just wonderful vehicle, extremely please with my White HHR Panel, gas is great, the look is great.................great.

I have an 07 panel, no noise I would let the dealer work it out since it is so new.

Taking it to the dealer is a fair bit of advice because it is under warrantee. However, I chase my own rattles and squeeks as it is easier than leaving off my car, and I do a better job unless it is suspension.

In your case, I'd bet it is the rear hatch, either the seal or hinges, or the rear shocks or bushings. Try greasing the hinges on the hatch and lubricating the hatch seal with Armor-All. Just a suggestion. If it is under the car, get it to the dealer.

When I had a hatch issue, I pulled out the rear plastic pieces, and sat in the rear area while my buddy drove the car over bumps. I found it instantly. It is almost impossible to isolate a rear noise from the driver's seat.

It gave me the impression it came from the hatch, I will ask my wife to drive and I will aslo get in the back to get a better idea.

If it is the rear hatch, are there any ajustments I should do.

If I can't determine the source I will take it to the dealer, it's not major but do want to find the source.

I am with you brother, and that sounds like a great plan. If you can tell the dealer specifically, "It is a rubbing type squeak from the lower part of the hatch" (or similiar) it beats "Gee there is a noise somewhere behind me." The more you can give the service folks the better job they can do for you. I don't know about a hatch adjustment, but others here may. Also, when you can pinpoint the issue and area, I think they take your request for warrantee work more seriously. Best of luck with it. God Bless, Marc

Thumbs up Grease, Grease and more Grease

Solution to the little noises from the rear section, add lots of Grease inside the hatch.

All noises have left the building, gone.

This white HHR Panel is now riding clean as a whisle

Great forum, thanks guys
