Steering column rattle when breaking

Steering column rattle when breaking
Hi, All:
When I apply the brakes---hard or soft--I get this rattle sound that seems to be coming from the steering column. If I am applying the brakes while rounding a corner---left or right---no rattle. If I apply the brakes and the rattle occurs and I then turn the wheel slightly---the rattle goes away.
It is not under warranty, so I hesitate taking it in.
Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix or know of a bulletin?
thx for any help

I have the same problem, have for a while not. There is a bolt a little ways up the steering column(get under the dash and look up) try that first. It was a no go for me, but you might get lucky. Mine seems to be coming from right where the turn signal switch is.
