Steering wheel off center

I just put an intermediate shaft in my 2009 HHR and now the steering wheel is slightly off center. Does the upper shaft slide into the steering wheel spleen only one way
or can I move it one notch to bring the steering wheel on center. Thanks.

Don't do that. It will make the computer think you are out of control, which will also happen if you leave it. That is what the steering angle sensor is for.

Go back and fix the Intermediate shaft .

The end of the intermediate shaft that goes into the steering rack is notched only one way. My question is does the spleened upper half of
the shaft that slides into the steering wheel only go in one way also. Thanks

The directions to mark the shaft when you remove it so you can get it exactly back together. You must have let the rack move. The end that connects to the power steering is the important bit.

If you take the airbag of the steering wheel you can see the marks to line up. Maybe somebody previously monkeyed with it.

Seems the splines aren’t back in the same place, you can disconnect the upper yoke of the intermediate shaft and gently move the steering wheel, but not to far, or you risk damage to the clock spring. You do not need to remove the air bag or the steering wheel.
