I bought a 2008 HHR this weekend, I opened the sunroof but now it will not close all the way. Is there anything I can do to close this manually? Please let me know

Clear any debris out of the tracks and check the wind deflector for damage

Make sure the rails are clean and unobstructed. No manual over ride.

I'll try that, but if that doesn't work? It closes but stays open about 2 to 3 inches. Thank you.

Probably the wind deflector is broken or there’s stuff in the track

Are you doing this with key on? Have you checked the fuse (#10 under hood)? Make sure NO fuse in #11 under hood.
Does the motor make a sound, like trying to work?
Is it in the Vent position or stuck somewhere else? Is it up or down?
Did it stick when the key was turned off while it was moving?
Will it go either way with help?

The key is in the on position and it will open but only closes just about 2 to 3 inches before the wind protection.

I'm not with the vehicle at the moment but I'll check for debris when I can. It's raining here now but I do have a cover over the sunroof

There is a short section in your Owner Manual (link in my sig) that might apply.
