Suspension clunk.

Hey guys. New to the forum. Just picked up an '06 Spring Edition w/ 70 000 km (Canada).
Victory Red w/SE decals, 5-Spd, 2.4L. Surprisingly peppy!

But I've now got a suspension clunk. I've done some searching around here, and it seems like a lot of you have had a similar problem. I'm having trouble putting together the information...correct me if I'm wrong...

1) Sounds like a loose front strut? Mine does.
2) Seems to disappear on certain road surfaces? Mine Does.

3) Can be helped by replacing sway bar end-link bushings?

Is this true or is there another part I should be looking at?
Are there any visible signs when this is the problem? I.E Links are worn through or something?
I read that some guys replaced them and it just came back after a few miles. Is there a better bushing out there? Poly? GMPP? GM regular parts?

I've got a garage with a hoist, so I'll be doing it myself, but any help in the right direction would be nice. It's driving me a little nuts...

THANKS!

I had the clunk too...it was the sway bar end-link bushings..I thought it was the struts at first, replaced those but it didnt help. I have just over 81000 on my '06.

i noticed that when I stood on the running boards and made the car rock back and forth, you could hear it.. when I had the car up on the hoist and we checked the suspension you couldnt duplicate the noise.

now with about 20,000 on her since then the clunking is back..

I have an 08 it had a clunk in the front end when cold out side (below 40f) found it to be in the sway bar bushings, replaced with greasable bushings from energy suspension(universal)

Welcome to the forum, what part of Canada you in?
I had that noise, turned out to be the swaybar endlinks. Note there can be a similar noise coming from a bad steering column, make sure its not coming from there.

Thanks for the replies guys. As it turns out, someone replaced the endlinks on it already, and either didn't tighten them down or they rattled loose. At any rate they wore the mount out on the shock tower. I tightened the bejesus out of it, but I get the feeling I'll be doing it again shortly. Or somehing more extensive. Oh well. I got. Pretty screaming deal on it. 10k after everything! Thanks prod, I'm in winnipeg.

The endlinks may need replacing again if that doesnt get rid of it. Moog makes aftermarket ones that might hold up better.
Winnipeg, ouch, youre even colder than I am right now.

lol. Yeah, it's a little chilly. It's been worse though!

Somebody actually already put Moog ones in. Lucky me!. I guess the instructions didn't tell him to "tighten your **** down!"

Hopefully it holds...
