My 09 HHR 2LT 2.4 somehow got the exhaust bent out of shape and I can’t track down what is “off” to get it back in place. It’s hitting the bumper cover and rattles the car. Anyone have pics of the hangers in place so I can compare and see if one of my hangers is bent?

 

I would start at the flex pipe, it could be broken.

 

There are 2 more after the muffler not shown

 

My suggestion would be to get (or someone) under there & look at the hangers around the muffler, & see if they look like they got bent.
They might be able to be bent back into shape.

 

You can see in this photo they point to one side, you can bend them back into position fairly easily with vise grips or a boxend wrench for some leverage.

 

If that's the tailpipe on the right, it looks like hers is simply mispositioned, nothing bent.

 

That’s correct tailpipe on right of that photo, now that is for a 2.2 muffler but the hanger brackets are the same location.

 

Could of just slipped the from the rubber grommets.

 

Maybe.
More likely is they backed into something or someone bumped into them. (kind of looks like scrape marks on the tail pipe.

 

I’m thinking a parking lot curb being backed into, or a grommet has deteriorated
