You say the coolant was changed 2000 miles ago, but do you know what they used?

Receipt says dexcool its all I know.
they don't give the empty jugs back.

My dad drove a 1953 Studebaker to the dealer to trade it in with a rod sticking out of the block. It was running.

Has anybody checked the coolant to see what it reads for protection temp. Who knows if they had the proper mix when last installed.
When I had mine serviced by a my GM Dealer it read 42 degrees below shortly after words when their Lube dept. checked it as part of the oil change service.

Straight Dexcool won’t cut it in the deep cold.
50% Dexcool and 50% distilled water is what I use up here .

50/50 is normally -32F or -36C
I thought Dexcool was a pre-mix out of the container.
