On the '08 LS my gauge dropped to 0 and the coolant readout was --- ---
I thought it was a sensor, but thanks to this thread was able to fix the problem by replacing the thermostat. $45.00 for the thermostat and coolant + $20.00 labour from my nephew.
Thanks for the great forum...Bob

Hey guys thanks for all the helpful information. I had the CEL on saying temp wasnt reaching operating temp. I changed the T-stat. My question is...Some of you say i need to reset computer by disconnecting battery and some say the CEL will go away on its own. My CEL is still on do I need to drive the car for a few days and see if it goes off on its own or should I disconnect the battery? Thanks in advance. by the way it is a 2006 ls.

Welcome to the site.
You can do it either way.
Disconnecting the battery to reset the computer, will clear the CEL right then.
Driving and waiting for the CEL to clear could take a few days. GM has their secret little algorithm set in the computer. The car has to go so many miles, key start cycles or whatever before it resets. One of those little secrets that GM likes to keep to itself.
