I had a scan tool on my car and it says I need a tps and the dealer says its in the throttle body and wants me to buy the throttle body is this true $350 !!!! the car reduces power and puts a couple msgs on the display saying

service traction control
engine power reduced

this seems to happen if I spin a wheel I just had new hubs installed and rotors and brakes too but was doing this before I done this work im going to gm tomorrow to see what there diagnostic computer says

You need to post up the actual trouble code numbers (ex: P0xxx) for us to try and help you.

Just saying the "scan tool says" is too vague and can also be inaccurate in trying to make a diagnosis.

Post up the codes and I'll bet we can help you.

Unfortunately the TPS is integral to the throttle body, one of the slight downfalls to the HHR's "Drive By Wire" throttle system.

George is spot on, when it comes to codes read by a scan tool, we need the actual code numbers.

Keep us posted as to what the dealer says.

I wonder how much of that $322 is removing the 4 bolts involved.
