TPMS Issue
TPMS Issue
Good Afternoon All:
I have a 2011 HHR 2.4L . The old Chevy has 292K on it. Recently my TPMS light came on and stated the RF sensor was bad. Looking at my DIC the RF sensor showed (-- --),so I purchased a Schrader replacement wheel sensor (29049). When I purchased the car 10 years ago I never received a original FOB. I do have an after market FOB which works on the doors and also has a remote start. Being I do not have the original FOB I used my Launch 123E ODB2 scanner to put the TPMS in reset mode. Upon doing so I get the two horn beeps and the driver side running light is lit I use my relearn scanner in front of the sensor the horn beeps and then the passenger side running lit comes on and I proceed to do this for the remaining wheels and at the end I got the two beeps of the horn.
I now have all the correct tire pressure reading on my DIC but the TMPS light is still on. I did drive the car at highway speeds for 20 minutes and the light is still on. I did disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes, upon reconnecting the battery the TMPS light was off but the DIC tires values were all dashes. After a few minutes the light came back on and the tire pressure valves were reading in the DIC.
I'm not taking the car to the dealer they will tell me about all the services I have missed for the last 250K lol . I'm thinking maybe its the wheels sensor and it want an OEM sensor? But I'm confused why it all is correct in the DIC?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I think it’s the new sensor, I’ve not read very many positive reviews about them. Apparently not compatible with the sensor relearn tool. I’ve only installed the AC Delco 13598771 or 13598772 because of these issues
OldBlue: Thanks for the reply, that's what I'm thinking but why does the DIC read it but the TPMS module still thinks there is a problem as when I start the car not only is the light is on but the DIC says "Add air low Tire".
What is the difference between the AC Delco 13598771 and the 13598772? Amazon states the 13598772 does not fit the 2011 HHR?
donbrew: Thanks for the reply. I did not change the location of the tires and I thought the same thing but I let the air out of each tire and the DIC showed the loss on the correct tire. I would think that even if I changed the tire location when I use the relearn scanner tool it would have programmed not only the sensor but the location it was at because of the HHR's relearn procedure?

PulpFriction: Thanks for the reply. My Launch 123E scanner when I'm in the TPMS screen it shows me each wheel sensor. It show current pressure, and a bunch of other stuff that escapes me at the moment but one of the items is battery condition and all (4) read Ok?
The 771 are originally the ones for the 2011 HHRs.
I bought one of these to break the beads
