Traction control light and check engine light on
wright down codes you have, Clear all the codes then drive it and see what code it shows when light comes back on. work on one at a time ! If you just keep driving it it will just keep putting light on
Traction control light and check engine light on
I have a 2007 HHR 2.4L and I'm have the same issues as youfolks...
1. Traction control light comes on and off
2. Check engine light comes on and off
3. Kicks when it shifts
Besides the dealer who else can diagnose the problem and give me the codes to what is wrong. Dealer wants $125 to diagnose.
Thanks.

Just about any autoparts store such as Autozone/O'Rilleys/NAPA etc. will read the CEL codes for you for free - but get the number of the code (ie p0011 etc), NOT the description. When you get the codes put them in the SEARCH tool at the top of the page and it will hopefully point you in the right direction.
The list of codes possible is quite long - ie: here is a list of the ones related to the HHR's - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...010-hhr-14259/

Well, I'll add that reason to my list of reasons why I'll never go to California ever again. :)
But I bet if she bats those baby blues at the clerk she can at least borrow one for a few minutes. I tried it once, but didn't work for me for some reason. :)

No free OBD testing in California or Hawaii. It's been that way since at least 2009. That's the reason I bought my own scanner. The first one I bought was really bad. Ironically, I bought it at Autozone.
Good to know - thanks. Seems counter-productive though, as one might tend to just ignore it as long as the vehicle drives "ok", especially now that dealerships now charge a 'diagnostic fee" just to plug in and get a reading.
