trans issues

I figure that this transmission is done but ill get some feed back first.

I just bought this little gem. 1st gear wont pull. Reverse and all of the other gears are fine. I checked the fluid level and its ok.

While going thru the car is found a receipt for some partsfor it and it looks like they put dexron v in it.

Does anyone think that a fluid change will fix it or should i just replace it and be done?

Thanks for all the info.

Welcome to the site Your symptoms sound as if your trans may be in limp in mode. I would go to your local parts store and see if they can get any trouble codes from the computer system.

The codes may help lead to what the problem is

Welcome to the site.

Good advice from Lucky.
So. Just to clarify. You are talking about a automatic transmission? Also, what year and the mileage.

2006 came with Dex V, however GM changed the recommendation to Dex VI in a TSB. So don't sweat the Dexron part, it's basically a change from dino to syn. But, it might be low if they did not know how to check the level. SEARCH "transmission fluid".

And I'm sure someone will post the drawing of the component locations.
