trans issues
I have checked the fluid, it was only about a half quart low. It does seem that the pump is making noise. I have found a transmission locally with only 47,000 miles on it for 400. Thats the route im gonna take.
Just to be sure; you checked it car level, engine running, ATF temp 104F, trans in park or neutral.
How would you be able to know a half quart low? There is no dipstick! only the port for "full-not full" it's digital not analog.
If nothing came out the hole with the engine not running, the thing is empty.

I think outlaw is on the right track...no forward pull in 1st gear indicates a problem with the forward clutch. The pump noise and low fluid level sounds to me like someone has tampered with the trans.(forward clutch is not properly installed, or a cut ring seal on the forward clutch support.)
Dexron V is in my '06 6FW trans@ 60,000 miles in 8 yrs it's still fine.
Good Luck with the replacement trans. I would go with a "certified rebuild".
