Unstable instruments
I'm having a problem with the dash instruments on my 2010 HHR LS.
Most of the time they are fine. Fuel guage and tach reliably reflect the engine running.
Sometimes the tach goes to zero and back to the proper reading. The fuel guage does the same. The diagnostic message change (check power steering, low fuel, traction ESC, that sort of thing).
The car seems to continue to run normally. Brakes work, there is plenty of fuel in the tank, steering is fine, that sort of thing.
Then it goes back to normal and it's normal for a couple of day.
Any thoughts?
