Warm A/C no readout on temperature gauge

Warm A/C no readout on temperature gauge
I turned on my A/C and it blew warm air. I drove around for a bit thinking that maybe it will just kick on but no luck. In addition, when I took a look at my gauge cluster, the needle on my temperature gauge didn't even budge (read zero degrees even while I was driving around). When I looked at the digital display figuring that maybe the temp gauge went bad, there were three dashes followed by the Farenheit symbol (---F). I have no temperature readout and my A/C is blowing warm air. Any thoughts?

As fireman said it could be the t-stat. It could also be as I just found out recently, an "ambient temperature sensor" as I've been through 3 t-stats and the condition persisted. So now they are trying that. If you take your HHR to Advance Auto. You can pull the code and erase it to allow use of the A/C again. It may be temporary depending. So please don't expect it to continue working 100% until you have it fixed.

Try using the Search function at the top of the page and look for thermostat. This is a well documented issue here, and a semi common problem. Without going into a long description, when the thermostat jams open due to a deteriorated gasket on the thermostat itself, the engine is slow to warm up, and an undertemperture condition is raised, blanking out the digital temp display, disables the a/c at the same time, and sometimes will throw a code and light up the CEL.
It's the thermostat.
