Warning bell going crazy!
Warning bell going crazy!
Sometimes, when I open the driver's door to my 2011 HHR, the warning bell goes nuts, as if I had left the key in the ignition. The key is out. When I push the delayed locking switch, like I always do, all the doors immediately lock, but the drivers door, which is open, then unlocks. The bell keeps ringing. When I exit the car and close the door, I have to lock the door with my key. Sometimes when I come back to the car, the bell doesn't ding when I open the door. Sometimes it does. This seems to be completely arbitrary.
This has been happening for several months now. I bought the car with 100,000 miles on the clock, and it now has around 140,000.
Any ideas?
Anybody?
Bueller?

Greybeard: Lock button on the fob doesn't work, and yes, I changed the fob battery. It's just worn out.
firemangeorge: Checked the GM recall site, punched in the VIN, and it said there are no outstanding recalls.
RJ_RS_SS_350: Headlights are off.
Oldblue: Battery was changed one year ago. I'm afraid that wherever I take it for a charging system check will prescribe a new battery whether or not I need one. I have trust issues whenever anyone else works on my car.
Thanks anyway guys. Anybody else?

If you have a Digital meter, take a voltage reading key turned off , what’s the voltage, above 12.4 volts or higher.
Then start the HHR and take another reading, should be above 14 volts.
The alarm system went nuts when my OEM battery died , 12.3 volts and a 2 dead cells.
